This early 1965 vintage Gibson SG Special is in great player-grade condition. This particular models serial dates around 1965 but features the non-angled compensated aluminum wraparound bridge synonymous with 1964 models before the maestro vibrato became standard on all SG Specials.
At some point, this guitar was refinished from its original cherry color to a walnut finish by the original owner. The SG was purchased by it’s current owner, in Rochester, NY during the mid-70’s, who swapped the original bridge pickup with a “modern” p90. The neck pickup is original. He also carefully added Stew-Mac neck binding as well as the side dots. The body has some pressure dents on the lower bout, there are remnants of some small stickers on the pickguard and the tuners have some tarnish. The frets are worn but still have some life. Overall, this guitar is made to be played, a sentiment shared with its previous owner.
