This 1987 PRS Custom 24 is in immaculate example of an early-production PRS. It features the signature flamed maple top, mahogany neck and back and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with Mother-of-Pearl / Abalone Moon inlays. The neck profile is most likely the “wide-fat” but by modern standards is still very thin. The original 5-way rotary switch has been swapped with a 3-way toggle, where the “sweet switch” would be, and the guitar was wired for master volume / tone; all the original electronics are included in the case. The frets are original and have previously leveled and crowned, they still have playing life but are currently on the smaller side. Fender-style strap buttons have been installed as well, but like the electronics, the original strap buttons are included in the case.
The top of the guitar is clean with no visible blemishing. The bridge and saddles have a fair amount of patina. There are scratches and pin-hole blemishes all along the back. There is a small indentation near the lower strap button. There is a small indentation on the side of the neck near the first fret. There are a few other minor dings/dents throughout, including on the headstock, consistent with an instrument of this age in Very Good condition.
The guitar was recently setup by our technician, Kent Ellingson, with a set of 10-46 strings.
