The Gibson GreenyBucker Humbucker Pickup Set is a recreation of one of the most famous pickups in one of the most famous guitars of all time. The original 1959 Les Paul, dubbed “Greeny” – owned by British blues guitarist Peter Green, then by Irish rocker Gary Moore, then by Bay Area thrasher Kirk Hammett of Metallica – has been heralded as one of rock’s most iconic guitars. It carries the same priceless value as a Hendrix-owned guitar or Brian May’s Red Special.
Known for its signature out-of-phase position and vocal-like lead tones, the tone chased by many is available as a new set of pickups from Gibson. These pickups are the same as what comes loaded in a Gibson USA Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul. This GreenyBucker set was developed in collaboration with Hammett himself, taking specs from the original Greeny’s pickups. Specifications include asymmetrical windings, unpolished Alnico-2 magnets, and of course the neck pickup’s reverse polarity magnets.
